The mission of the Technical University of Tirana is to achieve sustainable development based on honesty, curiosity, creativity, spiritual freedom, cooperation and knowledge transfer in the fields of science and education. The Technical University of Tirana is a quality public higher education institution and a leader in its field of specialization. It aims to improve and consolidate academic training and address important research and scientific questions at national and regional levels.

Tirana University of Technology, as a public higher education institution, has been in harmony with the needs of the Albanian social and cultural environment from its inception to the present day. In its dynamics of change, UPT is often a real driving force and supporting factor in the creation of the history of higher education (especially engineering), technology, innovation, economics, national culture and public life.

The UPT tradition began in 1951 with the establishment of the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Tirana, which encompassed several engineering branches such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering. This year also marks the establishment of higher education in Albania. The academic staff of the Institute initially consisted of Russian lecturers and Albanian assistants, graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, mainly from Eastern European countries. Gradually, with increasing qualifications and specialization, it became possible to establish a permanent teaching team of Albanian teachers.
